Strengthen Your Images With These Two Compositional Tools!

Use features in your surroundings to help you compose your shots! Here are just a couple to look for next time you are out and about taking pictures.

FRAMING - Use elements in your surroundings to help frame your subject. This can be a branch from a tree, a doorway, park equipment, or even shadows on the ground or wall.

Grabbed this image as she walked between the fallen tree! The parts of the trunk are a perfect way to illustrate the differences in size and frame my daughter in the image.

REFLECTIONS - be on the look out for reflections in bodies of water, puddles, windows and mirrors.  Try and incorporate them into your images. Spring is just around the corner here on the North Shore of Chicago. You will have plenty of opportunities to look for these reflections!

Reflections bring another level of interest and uniqueness to your images. The shadow area on the left of the image also helps to direct your eye to my daughters.
