How to Choose the Right Location for Your Brand Photos

You might already have a sense of how you want your brand to feel. Clean. Calm. Elevated. Intentional.

But your current space doesn’t quite reflect that yet.

Maybe you’re working from a home office that feels temporary.
Or you’re still building toward the environment you envision.

So the question becomes… where should your brand photos actually take place?

Because the goal isn’t just to find a location. It’s to choose a space that aligns with how you want to be seen.

What to Consider When Choosing a Location for Brand Photography

Choosing a location isn’t about finding something impressive. It’s about finding something aligned.

A few things guide that decision:

  • Your brand personality — Is it polished, relaxed, bold, calm?

  • How you work — how can you show clients what to expect when working with you. conversation, creativity, inspiration, focused work.

  • Where your images will be used — website, social media, speaking, marketing

  • The feeling you want your clients to have when they see you

When those pieces are clear, the location becomes much easier to define.

A Chicago North Shore Brand Photography Example: A Calm, Intentional Space

One of my clients came into her session with a clear sense of how she wanted to show up. She wanted her images to feel:

  • clean

  • light

  • calm

  • professional

She wasn’t looking for anything overly styled, trendy, or visually busy.

So instead of starting with a location, we started with how she wanted to be seen.

Why a Light, In-Home Studio Can Work for Brand Photography

My in-home studio isn’t the default… it’s one of several options we consider when it aligns with a client’s vision.

For this session, it gave us exactly what we needed. The light-filled, neutral space supported the clean, calm aesthetic my client was drawn to, while the minimal environment kept the focus on her. Within one setting, we created a range of images without disrupting the flow, allowing the session to feel relaxed and unhurried.

Because the environment was aligned from the start, the images felt cohesive, polished, and true to her.

The location didn’t define the images. It supported them.

How to Choose a Brand Photography Location That Feels Aligned

Most women I work with don’t come in knowing exactly where their session should take place.

They come in knowing how they want to feel.

That’s where the process begins.

We start with a conversation… about your business, your goals, and how you want to show up. From there, we choose a location that supports all of it.

Not based on what looks good online. But based on what feels aligned for you.

Planning Your Brand Photography Session on the Chicago North Shore

If you’re not sure what location fits your brand, you don’t have to figure that out on your own.

We can start with a simple conversation and build from there… so when the time comes for your session, everything already feels clear, intentional, and aligned.
